Larry Summers on Trump’s Carrier Agreement: Airs of Dictatorship

Lawrence (Larry) Summers is back to express his hatred of Trump, but it is getting uglier.

In an article at the WaPo on Dec 2, The upcoming Trump administration, the Carrier deal and the rule of law, Summers called the Donald “a possibly vindictive president“. That qualifier (“possibly”) is there only as legal protection against a vindictive president who might sue him for libel. Summers means Trump IS  a vindictive president, and implies in the article that Trump is a dictator.

…to lever Carrier into doing what he wanted.

Presidents have enormous latent power and it is the custom of restraint in its use that is one of the important differences between us and banana republics.

I think his ill feelings towards Trump matter. Not only he is expressing fears of the people in the article, but there are rumbles about the tweeting President building a wall of generals around him, with the implications that he is aspiring to be a dictator. That that type of conversation is happening at all at the highest levels of our oligarchy is significant. That’s the focus of this post.

Political Context

First of all, the one fact no ones talks about: There is a huge division/fight going on up there at the higher levels of our nation’s political and economic hierarchy. There are ideological fissures on each camp individually, the globalists and the conservatives, and on how to attack the opposite camp or to make deals with each other. ‘We the people’ are the cannon fodder they are using against each other.

This has been going on since the primaries. Trump not only achieved dividing the GOP, he also divided the globalists and pitted conservatives against each other, let alone against the globalists.

The pledge to not divide the party.

It has been a long time since anyone masterfully used the adage ‘Divide and conquer to his benefit. Trump did it.

It is clear that he used the adage intentionally because anyone running for president knows that attacking the globalists is not going to garnish him friends in that camp. It is impossible to believe that he did it unknowingly. At this time in the game, after he succeeded in overturning democratic votes in his favor, the idea that he is a ‘moron’ is not helpful. He may be mentally unstable, but that is not synonym with low intelligence. Actually, it is a tightly held stereotype that mental illness is synonym with low IQ, when the two are not necessarily related.

Trump is not a moron, he is Machiavellian.

mach

Why is the mainstream media (MSM) not writing about that division? Answer: Because they don’t want you to see them fighting among themselves. Not only it would be unseemly, it is simply not good political practice to let your enemies (‘we the people’ in this case) see your house in disarray.

oligarchy

I’m a good political observer but not a good analyst. So, I’m just saying.

Enter Larry Summers to relegate Trump “to the margins of our national life,”

We know who Larry Summers is (see full bio, but suffice it for the moment to know he is an American über-globalist) and that his opinions matter to the members of this nation’s economic and political hierarchy. But you may not know of his hatred of Trump and the reasons for it. Let me give you the skinny on Summers’ contempt for Trump, as I see it.

We all know Trump started his primaries campaign attacking the globalists, without calling them globalists. It was not an oversight; it was intentional, just as he intentionally calls them “the lying and dishonest media” but never calls what they print ‘propaganda‘. He knows good salesmanship mandates letting his customers fill the blanks: at a not-so-subconscious level, we all know he means the media writes ‘propaganda‘. Calling these elements by their name (globalism and propaganda) would be inefficient because then there would be backlash from those trying to refute the malice he ascribes to globalists and Murdock and his media pals. So, he just calls them “lying” this and that.

Yeap, it’s about propaganda. The media gives you propaganda. The people sees it, but can’t call it by its name. Trump shampooed their brains.

That in itself is propaganda by innuendo. In doing so he avoids any responsibility later on for not delivering on his ‘attacks’ on globalists. It is exactly what he did this week with the Carrier agreement incident:

It was all news to Trump, who was taken aback at the idea that he promised to keep Carrier jobs in the United States.

carriere

“I actually said I didn’t make it. When they played it I said, ‘I did make it, but I didn’t mean it quite that way,’ ” Trump said. It was, he explained: “A euphemism. I was talking about Carrier like all other companies from here on in, because they made the decision a year and a half ago.” How Donald Trump forgot about his promise to keep Carrier jobs in the U.S. (WaPo)

But the fact remains that he ran on letting people believe he was attacking both the globalists and the media when, as you can see, he was just shampooing his followers brains.

Larry Summers and those pesky Angry Voters

And Larry Summers was incensed about it, not because he pitied the poor ‘deplorables‘ being manipulated, but because he could see that Trump was running on voters anger. Angry at what were they? Well, Summers knew the answer perfectly well, as he described in his blog:

Yet a revolt against global integration is under way in the west. The four leading candidates for president of the US — Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz — all oppose the principal free-trade initiative of this period: the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Proposals by Mr Trump, the Republican frontrunner, to wall off Mexico, abrogate trade agreements and persecute Muslims are far more popular than he is.

The core of the revolt against globalintegration, though, is not ignorance. It is a sense, not wholly unwarranted, that it is a project carried out by elites for elites with little consideration for the interests of ordinary people — who see the globalisation agenda as being set by big companies playing off one country against another.

Just for the record: I started this blog on February 1 when the MSM was ‘disconcerted’ by the phenomenon of angry voters. They would tell their audience that they didn’t know where that anger lifting Trump was coming from. But I said it in my first post, it was Trump’s anti-globalist message. If I knew it, so did they, for I’m not that bright as to be the only one seeing it. The reason the media supposedly couldn’t figure it out was precisely because Trump, opportunistically, never used the word “anti-globalism”, and they were not about to open that can of worms.  So they faked ignorance is my point.

Back to Larry

Summers was angry at Trump for instigating voters anger against his ideology of globalism. Globalists don’t need people furious at them, they need to pacify them. Trump was making the situation worse by calling names, like Carrier company.

And so it happened that Larry couldn’t take it any more and let ‘we the people’ have it. He actually made a threat to  the American voters in an article he published at the WaPo on March titled Donald Trump is a serious threat to American democracy:

The United States has always been governed by the authority of ideas, rather than the idea of authority. Nothing is more important than to be clear to all Americans that the tradition of vigorous political debate and compromise will continue. The sooner Donald Trump is relegated to the margins of our national life, the better off we and the world will be.

That was a powerful expression of anger. Summers hates Trump, no doubt about it.

Implied in that paragraph is the threat that, if the voters don’t ostracize Trump from “our national life”, not simply defeat him, but erase him from our society, America may end up being “governed by the idea of authority”. The “tradition of political debate” is conditioned, in that article, on erasing Trump from our society.

It is not Trump who would usher such horrible destiny to our nation; it is the action of the voters if they elect him president.

More on that open letter to the American voters.

I have had a strong point of view on each of the last ten presidential elections, but never before had I feared that what I regarded as the wrong outcome would in the long sweep of history risk grave damage to the American project.

The “wrong outcome” is the wrong presidential election outcome: Voters electing Trump, but it is implied, not openly stated. Larry Summers hates Trump, but he feared the angry voters. Where did all that fear and loathing come from? Angry voters elevating both Trump and Sanders; they are the source of angst in the globalists’ mind.

The globalists can’t tolerate another wrong outcome like Brexit. And politicians like Trump (he is a politician) make the job difficult to them. And this brings us to Summers’ recent open letter to the public: The upcoming Trump administration, the Carrier deal and the rule of law

A House Divided

In it, Summers carefully hints that he thinks Trump is a dictator, as discussed up there.  All of us anti-Trump have said it since the primaries, it just so happens that now it is becoming clear. But Summers and us aren’t the only ones fearing a Donald military dictatorship. See Trump is surrounding himself with generals. That’s dangerous.

Once again, Larry Summers shows us that his biggest fear is the misguided masses of angry voters:

Some of the worst abuses of power are not those that leaders inflict on their people. They are the acts that the people demand from their leaders. I fear in a way that is more fundamental than a bad tax policy or tariff we have started down the road of changing the operating assumptions of our capitalism. I hope I am wrong but I expect that as a consequence we are going to be not only poorer but less free.

This long post is an effort at warning people that these are definitely unstable and dangerous political times. The MSM is not covering the real news that matter to us: that our political/economical masters are divided and bickering with each other. And when that happens, we pay for the broken dishes.

The globalists admit that their fun is coming to an end, that globalism can’t continue to benefit a few without the rest of humanity rising against them.

The globalist oligarchy and the conservative elite ARE afraid of the people’s anger. The know there are good reasons for us being angry at them. But they own all the power of the nation: the military, the police, armaments…and the MSM with which to manage us into moving whichever way they want us to go. Oh, they got the silly millennials to dump Hillary Clinton. That’s control.

Donald Trump is building a wall, indeed, but of military personnel all around himself. You saw what he said about his promises about Carrier: he didn’t mean a word he said.

dictator

El Duce?

So, he took the presidency for his personal power. That’s the sign of a dictator, isn’t it.

I hope this is not the USA empire collapsing in front of our eyes. Larry Summers’ interests are not ours. He fears us more than anyone, because ‘us’ can be manipulated like Plasticine, or grab our pitchforks and run after them.

Keep your eye open. There’s more to come.

Fearing Trump: For The Globalists, Coup Is In The Air

It’s been 15 years since the horror that was 9/11. For all of those 15 years our nation’s political leaders (in both parties), both presidents since then, and the oligarchs, they all have been at war with other nations…and with their own citizens.

For how much longer do you think our oligarchy overlords can keep us supporting their globalist misadventures and their for-the-Homeland Security lies?

There is an answer to that question, and it relates  to the political crisis that this presidential election cycle represents. I propose to you that the oligarchs know that the jig is up and that they are,  in the words of Brazil’s  Vice President in charge of the soft  coup against Dilma Rousseff,  ready to “pacify the nation“.

The Crisis: The Oligarchs Are Feeling Restless

Listen, you know the answer to that as well as I do, and I don’t think we’re going to see a President Trump. I’m seeing [disturbing] things today that I never expected to see from either party . And I think when you have the American people as angry as they are, this makes them ripe for populism, and I think what we’re seeing is rooted in that populism. I’m not going to make a prediction on who our president’s going to be. But I will stick my neck way out and say, I don’t think it’s going to be Donald Trump.Globalist Han Paulson

Elites can continue pursuing and defending [global] integration, hoping to win sufficient popular support — but, on the evidence of the US presidential campaign and the Brexit debate, this strategy may have run its course.  Larry Summers

I have had a strong point of view on each of the last ten presidential elections, but never before had I feared that what I regarded as the wrong outcome would in the long sweep of history risk grave damage to the American project. [Idem]

What was in the beginning an imponderable is now taken for granted: support for Trump comes from the angry voters who can’t tolerate the success of globalism any more. It fits perfectly on one of Trump’s many funny promises: voters are tired of too much success,  they are asking ‘please, don’t succeed any more‘.

Our oligarchs aren’t laughing. The American project, our democratic system, is at risk if we don’t stop being angry and threatening to vote for the ‘wrong’ candidates.

NOTE: Nothing on this post should be construed as an endorsement of Donald Trump. I don’t support him in any way, shape or form.

The candidates:

First thing to note  is that these primaries are not ”usual’ or ‘typical’ by any means.  They have been ground shaking: party shaking, and ideology shaking too. Not since JFK’s administration have we seen anything like this.

It would be a political mistake of our citizens to take these elections as one about  the candidates’ personality problems. But that’s precisely the theme that the MSM is giving them; it has all been about Trump, the carnival character, and Hillary as the evil woman hated by every body. By the time the citizens wake up and see the truth, it will be too late for them to correct their mistake, just as they woke up too late  to the con game that was the invasion of Iraq. Now we are all stuck with the consequences of not being alert.

The second  noticeable phenomenon  is the MSM  repeating 24/7 since the beginning of the primaries, on TV, paper and online, the subtext that none of the candidates is worthy of your vote. Both Trump and Hillary have been bashed by them (whether you think they deserve it or not is immaterial to the media) as wholly dishonest,  liars and highly contemptuous lacking in human qualities. Seldom is there a reference to the candidates ideological positions; all attacks  aim at ‘character assassination”.

It is clear that the MSM doesn’t want you to consider either of the candidates as alternatives. If Trump is the racist narcissist liar whose election portent the fall of this nation, why are they attacking the other candidate whom everybody agrees is presenting a serious and well thought out platform? Please, don’t fall for a cynical or knee jerk answer, this question should matter to you.

If not Trump and not Clinton, then who? Sanders? Seriously. Have you stopped to consider that question? The WaPo and The NY Times endorsed Hillary, but their attacks on her have been relentless and even cruel sometimes. They even suggest that Sanders is the ‘honest’ one and she is a career liar.  I don’t see the ‘benefit’ of their endorsement, it certainly has not given her any positive coverage.

What if the problem with Hillary Clinton’s campaign is Hillary Clinton? Sometimes the problem is you.” WaPo

The Take: Clinton got what she needed, but her image is underwater. WaPo [This the day after she won big in NY. ]

You don’t find any articles from them asking you to vote for her to prevent Trump from winning.

So, for whom the MSM wants you to vote? Or are they insinuating that the decision have been made for you already? Or are they getting you used to the fact that the nation is in such turmoil and none of the candidates are capable to handle the crisis, that the decision will have to be made for you by the powers that be?  This ‘none of them’ campaign is fertile ground to plant anything and anyone in place of  “them“. And you will consent to it and love it too.

At War With The People: Coup Is In The Air

It is the people who matters. And the oligarchs have been paying attention to you because you are threatening their order. Voting is the crown jewel of the oligarchs’ democracy, and now you want to subvert it by voting for people they don’t approve of. If you elect Trump, you will be punished.

The United States has always been governed by the authority of ideas, rather than the idea of authority. Nothing is more important than to be clear to all Americans that the tradition of vigorous political debate and compromise will continue. The sooner Donald Trump is relegated to the margins of our national life, the better off we and the world will be. [Idem]

That’s right, there’s them, the oligarchs, who decide when we will be ruled by “the idea of authority”, i.e., dictatorship, and us, who have to debate and compromise with them. And there will be no “compromise and debate” until ‘us’ relegate Trump to the status of social outcast – “to the margins of our national life”. Another coup to Americans is being considered, that’s the meaning of that paragraph.

Talking about angry people, Summers sounded pretty angry there, didn’t he?

We have seen not so subtle threats before, most recently in 2009 when Bush told Congress that if they don’t sign the bail out of the greedy globalists they could see martial law signed by him. The oligarchs are threatening everybody, not just us. They are threatening harm to the Brits if they vote Brexit. And as if to send you a message that they are serious about how to stop, yes Trump, but ultimately your anger, the HuffPo published this article: At Secretive Meeting, Tech CEOs And Top Republicans Commiserate, Plot To Stop Trump

The HuffPo is owned by Verizon, so I take it that the message in that article was the imminency of the  perceived threat, not any details or facts (there were none) about what was discussed in that “meeting to plot” against Trump. But like that letter to Trump by Summers, it shows that the oligarchs are feeling restless.

The Solutions:

The depth of the crisis is such that it has the  oligarchs divided on how to fix it;  that’s a fact. You see it in how different big wigs support or don’t support efforts to derail Trump. There is also a third-party wish been discussed as we speak, but it will solve nothing because the problem is not Trump or the party. Whatever they do, voters anger will remain the same, and that’s what matter.

They see angry voters united, that’s a problem for them because, to manage the crisis you must have the people willing to negotiate, and people are beyond that level at this moment, there in Summers threat about “the idea of authority”.

So, democracy will have to be tinkered with, they may have to suspend it for a short period, if you don’t obey the globalists. And just to prove to you they mean business, take a second long look at Sanders’ followers ‘occupation’ of Trump’s rallies, and now attacking Hillary on her activities.

You saw there how easily  manipulated into creating chaos certain segments of the populace are. That was no happenstance, those provocations were planned, organized and carried out to perfection: it tested the availability  of  material to create social ‘crisis’ a la Latin America. That spectacle was for you, to show you that things  can get as intense as in third world countries if you elect Trump.

You can see in the article I linked for you above, the concrete plans globalist Trilateralist Summers have to control the people’s anger.

But this is the kicker: malleable Trump can be made the dictator the oligarchs need. It’s still too early to decide whether Trump will be obliterated or bend to the shape the oligarchs want. After all, he is a racist elitist: trust him at your own risk, like you trusted the cons who gave you Iraq and the NSA and Homeland Security…
